Nice little things
Think back to the beginning of your relationship… You probably, like 99% of couples, had a period of blissful romance. Why not recapture it, at least partially, now that you’re married? Give each other small gifts once a week. For example, women could give men cards with romantic wishes, and men could give women flowers.
Nice words
How long has it been since you told your spouse you loved them? Or complimented them? Or dreamed of something surreal together, snuggled under the covers with a cup of tea? Bring romantic words and compliments back into your life. Tell each other more often about your love and your strengths.
Romantic encounters
There’s no shame in scheduling a date and meeting somewhere outside the home. For example, your husband might invite you to a movie, and just like your real first date, you can start preparing for it—go shopping for a new dress, get your makeup done, and do your hair. Besides meeting at the cinema or going out for coffee, create a romantic atmosphere at home. Agree that every Tuesday, you and your spouse will cook a delicious dinner or choose old favorites together, cuddle up under the covers with a mug of cocoa, and watch a movie.
Relaxation for two
At least once a month, go somewhere out of town or even to another country for a weekend and spend time exclusively with the two of you. Don’t bring friends or family along, and don’t make new ones. Devote this time exclusively to each other.
A common hobby
You probably have common interests and hobbies, which is why you enjoy each other’s company. Why have you forgotten about them? It’s time to remember! If you enjoy drawing, sign up for a class together; if you enjoy watching movies, set aside one day a week to go to the cinema; if you enjoy sports, go to the gym together.
Make surprises
This could be, for example, an unexpected romantic dinner prepared by you or a secret purchase of tickets to see your partner’s favorite performer. Firstly, you’ll give your loved one a pleasant surprise, and secondly, you’ll have another excuse to spend unforgettable time together.
Take care of yourself
This applies to both men and women. Many people, once married, stop caring about themselves—their figure, their appearance, their health. This is wrong. Everyone appreciates an attractive and healthy partner. If you want to bring romance back into your relationship and you’ve honestly admitted to yourself that you’ve let yourself go, it’s time to get down to business and work on yourself.
